Weekly Trick – Roll Over

This trick seems easy, but for some dogs, they don’t like to roll on their back, so you may have to take this trick very slowly.

First, make sure your dog is in the down position.  Treat them and make sure they are comfortable in that position.

Next, start to move your treat to the side of the dog, so that they will start to move onto their side.  Once they are comfortable on their side, you can move on to the next step.

Now, move the treat to the dog’s rear end.  The dog should move like they are going to roll over.  Treat them to get them used to doing this.  As you are doing this, you should be using the command “roll over” in a playful tone to encourage them to complete the trick.

Then, once the dog is starting to try to roll over, move the treat to the dog’s opposite side so that they complete the “roll over” motion.  Once they have completed it, give them tons of praise and treats.   To get them to roll the other way, complete the trick the same but on the opposite side of the dog.  Once they complete this trick five times, the trick is considered learned.

I have a video of this trick to help you teach your dog.  This is NOT ME in the video.

And now, because it is Christmas, here are some very talented doggies singing jingle bells!

And we wouldn’t want to leave out the kitties!  Here they are singing their rendition of I’m Dreaming Of A White Christmas!

Happy Holidays to all, whichever you are celebrating, I hope you have a wonderful time with your friends and family.
