Black Cat Rescue
As most of us know, black cats are the least adopted cat. They are seen as “bad luck” and “evil”. Many times when people go to a shelter to adopt a cat, black cats are passed by for more “exciting” colors.
One place decided that they were going to work on this issue and start a black cat rescue of their own. Based out of Boston, Massachusetts, which is a non profit organization that matches black cats to the best pet parents they can find.
I am sure there are many organizations out there that are doing the same, I just thought this was a great idea that came from a very loving place. The woman who started this organization, started it because she adopted her very own “pocket Panther”, and found out the sad statistics of the reality of how many black cats are not adopted each year.
She does not have a “shelter” or an “office”. She has people who foster the cats and she shows her lovely kitties for adoption on her blog, Petfinder, and Facebook.
The organization has been around since 2008 and since then, she has been able to successfully help 200 black cats find homes.
She believes that cats are not adopted most of the time, because of the evaluation that is performed on the cat is from the shelter perspective. This is not a true sign of what a cat will be like because most of the time cats are stressed out in a shelter, and their true personalities don’t shine through until they are in their forever homes.
